Kindle 2 device not mounting in 12.04 unstable

Asked by David Richter

System: Dell E6410 - bios updates all current. I have loaded Ubuntu 12.04 and applied all daily updates.
Kindle (Kindle 2) device when plugged into USB port is not recognised -nothing occurs - no recognisable error - however as a Ubuntu newbie I do not necessarily know where to seach for errors.
I use Calibre successfully - however again the device is not found/recognised under Calibre.
I do not believe there is a problem with the USB ports as I have tried all 3 ports - the charging light on the Kindle does "light up" when plugged into the port.

Previously this same system when running Ubuntu 11.10 recognised the same Kindle 2 device. Calibre also could connect to the device and transfer ebooks.

Please advise/help.

I suggest you report a bug. Precise is NOT strable and NOT ready. If you need a working OS then use Oneiric. If you are happyto stomach feature holes and bugs in order to report bugs and get the release ready for April then by all means use Precise.

Can you help with this problem?
