Ubuntu

disk verification launched after each shutdown/restart

Asked by Mohamed IKBEL Boulabiar on 2011-11-04

Each time I close my computer or do a restart, I get a disk verification during the startup.

I also don't have the sound parameters saved.
(shut down my computer the sound muted, then it plays a sound after restart)

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#When%20not%20to%20file%20a%20bug. There is also a vibrant support community available at http://askubuntu.com and you might consider asking your question there.

Well,

1st, it's not my PC but it's a friend's one.
2nd, if it happens every boot itself, the solution would be to disable it
without searching for real causes ?
(fs problems/possible hard disk faults, inability to kill some proc. etc)

Could you boot on Ubuntu CD, choose "Try without install", and then System->Administration->Disk Utilities and fsck the disk to see if they are errors.
Check also SMART data with same software.
Did the disk some noise (clicks) ?
At shutdown, press <esc> key to remove graphic screen and check if shutdown process normally.
Since when did it happen ?

Can you help with this problem?
