Sony Vaio CD/DVD drive problems

Asked by Israel Dahl

My CD/DVD drive began to have trouble reading the CD/DVD when inserted.
I have to open the drive and reinsert the media multiple times before it will read the media.
This is not a crippling bug, because I can eventually read the media. But it is important for other less patient users (especially new users)

Let me know what info you want me to post.

Firstly, try to clean lens of CD reader.
If you had a software issue, you probably have not a slowly decreasing performance, but an abrupt failure.

I also have a Sony Vaio (VGC-RB45G). The CD/DVD drive started not working correctly. Went on internet, and found out, that some of those drives, were not made by Sony. (They have Sony name on them) Took drive out, and had it checked by computer shop. Bad! Replaced drive, fine now. May or may not be the problem, but you will know if drive is good.
