How do I partition a newly installed hard drive?

Asked by Michael Sullivan

I've installed a 2nd hard drive in my computer. I'd like to partition it into 4 separate partitions, so that I can load 4 different versions of Linux so that I can compare them.

seeing that it's a separate hard drive and wouldn't be mounted, you can use the disk utility that's under system>administration. you can also use a program called gparted.

if all you're doing is trying to compare distributions, all of them have a trial mode that you can run off a CD or usb drive.
