copy on USB disk is slow when Bios "Legacy usb support" is enable

Asked by Vincent Tschanz

I have a recent PC with Ubuntu 11.04.

I'ts a Core i3 540, 2Go Ram, Gygabite H55M USB3 mother board

In the bios, "USB Legac support" is enable by default.

When I copy a large file, like a movie, the whole UI hangs (nautilus and all the other apps) and the transfert rate, starting at 10MB/s, fall down to about 1MB/s.

If I disable legacy USB support, all is fine, the transfert rate is about 10MB/s and I can work on something else without interruption.

Is is a known problem? May I file a bug report?

No, I had F7 bios, now I updated it to F11.

Legacy support is enable and I don't have slow down problem anymore.
By the way, the bios "changelog" don't mention anything linked to USB...

Thanks for the help!
