CD/DVD Drive Problem in 11.04

Asked by Dustin Williams

Just installed 11.04 on my Dell XPS m1210. Wireless works, USB works. The problem is the CD/DVD drive - it doesn't want to mount any discs.

Obviously, I need to be able to use this drive. Can anyone help me?

Can you see your cd/dvd reader in "computer:///" path in Nautilus ?

When you put in a disk, let the CD spin then run:

dmesg | tail -n 10

What is output?

Thanks

Sounds like a bad disk or a dirty lens, possibly a bad drive
