i am having ubuntu 9.10 cd.since it is out dated can it be used for back up medium.i cant find format .thanks.

Sure you can use the CD as a backup CD easily. You may have issues later as I don't believe Karmic can access Ext4 which is default in Ubuntu. I suggest you graba Lucid CD and it will be good for years to come.

That CD is permanent it cannot be formatted, the only way for that to happen is you burned it yourself using a rewritable CD instead.
