Hello,

It might be visible but maybe not Mounted.

Install Disk-Utility or Gparted.

Regards,

Allan :)

Allan

1. Using Ubuntu 10.04 - installed 4 month ago
2. Opened "Places", the list of major directories in home/username
3. I do have Disk-Utility installed as part of the distribution installation apparently
4. The Places showed an Icon for File System, Floppy Drive and SanDisk SDDR-113
5. Under SanDisk Properties (it is a USB device) I have tried both Archive Mounter and Archive Manager set in the Open tab
6. When I drag a text file to the icon of the drive, I get the following:

! Error while copying "myfile.txt".

There was an error copying the file into computer:///.

Operation not supported by backend.

Thanks for the reply,

Larry

Hello,

Does the USB work on another computer? Has it been formatted?

Regards,

Allan :)

Allan,

A SanDisk SDDR-113 is not a flash drive. It is a converter that allows an SD Card to be plugged into a computer via a USB port.

My boy is humiliated at his old man's ignorant behavior. I misunderstood him when he gave it to me and just slapped it into a USB port and it came up looking like an icon for a flash drive.

The good thing is I found a site that has knowledgeable people willing to help.

An old man from Alaska (and former COBOL programmer) thanks you.
