Disk cleanup ... :
- install and use bleachbit package
- remove old installed not more used kernels

Defrag:
- not necessary in Ubuntu

Defrag is only necessary for Ext2 file-systems as they don't have a journal. The default file-system is Ext4 which has a journal so doesn't suffer from fragmentation. Windows' NTFS is also not journalized and suffers massively from fragmentation. This directly affects performance.

As Marcobra says, removing old kernels will save space to the order of 120Mb per kernel. Watch your settings in bleachbit as it may clean settings you want to keep (browser settings etc) and avoid settings that say will take a long time. You should also CLOSE as many apps as you can before you run it to free up the data.

You can also run:

sudo apt-get clean

To remove the old debs from past installations and updates.

You can also use:

deborphan

to remove unnecessary packages, some say it goes OTT but I've not had an issue with it personally.
