Could you report result of command:
sudo lsusb
I presume your card reader uses an internal USB link.

The model of my Netbook is "Compaq Mini CQ10-500 EEE PC". In Windows it used "Realtek Card Reader Driver" for the internal memory card.

"Bus 001 Device 002: ID 174f:1122 Syntek" is the webcam.
So card reader is not connected via USB (or there is a hardware issue).
Could you paste in http://
sudo lshw

As you didn't past into http://
bus info: pci@0000:01:00.1
Could you put a card inside card reader, and report result of command:
sudo fdisk -l
where "-l" is lower case "-L".

Dear Delance,
Thanks for your suggestion and guidance. I've pasted the thread in http://
I've run the command "sudo fdisk -l" after putting a card card in the card reader and got the following result:
Disk /dev/sda: 160.0 GB, 160041885696 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 19457 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x000841d0
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System

Your card is not seen by system.
The results of "lswh" make me think that card reader is not properly managed by Linux kernel.
I can't do more.

Actually I've got the same problem over here with the very same netbook, but I've found the solution as well (even though reading this thread I almost gave up actually…☺).
I did it actually on Arch Linux, but it shouldn't make much difference.
You have to download the Linux driver sources from over here (the Ralink website):
http://
Unpack, go to that place in a terminal, then
1) make
2) make install
3) depmod
4) reboot your computer
(as copied from the README file from the archive)
Actually I didn't reboot my computer, however I issued the command “sudo insmod rts_pstor.ko” to test it out. It works like charm.
For this to work, you need to have the header files for your kernel installed.
Can you help with this problem?
