Other hardisk partition missing

Asked by Lloyd Andrew

Hello guys, I'm new in Linux. I'm a Windows user but now I decided to use ubuntu and give it a try.

My problem is... I have 250GB of HD, partitioned into two (2) C: 80GB and D: 160GB approx. I installed Ubuntu into C: clean install, I totally erased XP on it... but I have files in drive D that I want to access... how can I do that, please explain in in layman's term since I'm totally new here... Thanks

Lloyd

Hi Lloyd Andrew,

Can you please provide the output from the following command:
sudo fdisk -l

Once that information has been given, we can advise further.

Thanks.

Yes. If you really need them, you can try "testdisk" to recover some files.
In this case, make a bootable Ubuntu USB stick with persistent area, and boot only from this one, not the disk.
