external hard disk

hallo,

i have ubuntu 9.10 karmic koala.

so,
my external hard disk is called WD and it always worked so good on my linux until my friend came and connected his hard disk next to mine and we started exchanging files and films...
when i disconnected his and try to access mine this is the message:

Did you safetly remove the drive when you were finished or did you just rip the device from the port?

yes i just rip it out as always did.

Then thats why, you are mistreating your hardware. The partitions need to be gracefully removed which is why there is a feature in *ALL* OSes to safetly remove USB partitions and drive or you will damage them.

I suggest you attatch it to a windows system and chkdsk the partition as it it ntfs formatted.
