removable drives are not recognized: Unable to mount... - Not authorized

Asked by Edixon A. Giraldo

I have the latest version of Ubuntu and I am having a problem using my removable drives such as USB pen drive and SD card from my camera. Every time I plug them in, I get an error message that reads "Unable to mount... - Not authorized". Can anyone help me out to solve this issue? Thanks.

Please open System→Administration → Users and group

Select your user push the "Advanced settings" button

goto the "User Privileges" tab and

check "Mount user-space filesystems (FUSE)".

Log out, log in, try connecting the drive again.

Hope this helps
