Why is ureadahead removed from ubuntu 20.04? Now booting is significantly slower!

Asked by cptX

Recently I have upgraded my linux mint to version 20, which is based on ubuntu 20.04. I'm using spinning Hard disks, and I noticed significantly longer boot times. I researched further and realized that ureadahead is not available and installed anymore.
In previous ubuntu I made experiments with and without ureadahead and had 20secs difference!!! (1min 17s boot time with ureadahead and 1min 37s without). Ureadahead was installed by default.

Why is ureadahead removed from ubuntu 20.04? Now booting is significantly slower! I would like this package to be available for all of us who still are using spinning disks and need it!

I don't get it, this has nothing to do with linux mint. This comes from the ubuntu side! Why are you sending me there?

Repeating from above:

This is support for Ubuntu only, and not for operating systems that are "based on Ubuntu" like Linux Mint.

Don't try tricking us.
https://github.com/linuxmint/linuxmint/issues/337 did not send you here, but to the Linux Mint Forum https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewforum.php?f=46

@Manfred Hampl I'm not trying to trick anyone. I got this answer from the linux mint forum: "ureadahead was removed from upsteam and therefor no longer available. It's only available on Linux Mint 19.3 and earlier. Not a bug fixable by Linux Mint." In my brain this means that upstream is Ubuntu, and is not fixable by Linux Mint. Do you have a different interpretation?
Why should I post again to a linux mint forum if this issue comes from Ubuntu?

Can you help with this problem?
