laptop bootup freezes when ac power connected.

Asked by Marc

Hi, I am having a problem with my dell laptop, hope someone can help me?

booting with ac adapter connected freezes with purple screen.

booting ok with battery only.

The ac adapter has some quirks that I could expand on if relevant.

On the same day I installed "TLP-Linux Advanced Power Management" , kernal and video updates.

So I'm not sure what has caused the problem ...

Dmesg showing ACPI Errors after plugging in the AC power, but working ok until next reboot.

I first disabled and then removed TLP, no change ...

I have tried booting with "acpi=off", it boots but with crappy very slow/very low resolution graphics.

fwts shows errors but not sure how to fix them ...

Have been using 13.04 for a while and have had no problems.

The system is fully up to date.
