Download installation package to local directory

Hi,
I am new to ubuntu.
I want to install softwares like jdk5, eclipse and I don't have Internet connection.
I want to copy the download installation package to any directory and then install it in my machine through command or gui.
I shall download installation package from my friends computer(he uses windows)
Is it possible

You can transfer the .deb files from your friends computer using an USB stick, a CD, or a cross-connected Ethernet cable.

Ubuntu has a tools gdebi (command line version) and gdebi-gtk (graphical version) to install local .deb files.

I have no experience how these tools would handle dependencies if the machine is offline. It should work if you call it one by one, in such order that there are never any unsatisfied dependencies.
