Questions About Updating to Ubuntu 9.10

Asked by Kyle Robertson

I have a question about upgrading to 9.10 from 9.04: If I upgrade via the update manager (press Alt+F2 and type in "update-manager -d" without the quotes), will it keep all of my settings, applications, shortcuts, documents, and everything else?

Yes it will. This is the recommended method of upgrading.
However, there may be a few exceptions: some packages present in Ubuntu 9.04 are not available in 9.10. Before the actual upgrade begins, you will be presented a list of packages to be removed.
