is it possible to avoid upgrading to new LTS version?

Asked by Joost

Hi,

A potentially weird question:
is it possible to avoid the automatic offering of new LTS kernel versions of Ubuntu in the Package manager?
We would like to avoid our customers to automatically upgrading their LTS Ubuntu version, since our own, custom software package may stop functioning when our users do so. Smaller updates of individual packages is typically fine, yet the larger kernel updates should not be performed 'unattended' in our case.
It would be great if there would be a setting to avoid these larger updates/upgrades to be offered.

Thanks in advance for any hints!

Sure the easiest way would be to open synaptic, find your linux headers, linux image select them and go to Packages > Lock Version.
