update failure port 8080

OS is ver 8.04. ISP is Orange on Livebox. On running Update Manager I get "W: Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/hardy-security/multiverse/i18n/Translation-en_GB.bz2 Could not connect to 192.168.1.1:8080 (192.168.1.1). - connect (111 Connection refused)" I have tried changing port settings in livebox and local settings to no avail. I want to run update manager to acquire updates. It is obvious from Update Manager that it has not done any updates since installation (138 days). How do I connect?

You should disable proxy server. I'm not sure how to do this, but you could look for "proxy ubuntu" in Google or whatever.

Compliments to Marco Braida and Roman Azarenko. I had looked at disabling Proxy Server but this time I sorted it with Squid after searching on proxy ubuntu. I can now access the port and have already updated. VMT, JR
