dpkg wont run and this wont let me update my computer

Binary package hint: update-manager

when trying to run 262 updates on my computer all i get is a message saying about there was an error running dkpg please run manually and report. i have tries to manually run dkpg using the terminal option and it just tells me this command is not recognised

Just updated description and fixed typo in title.
I'm thinking dpkg would be better but without the info of output we cant do much.

 how do i sort this problem out? i am only good at the basics on a computer and have never come across this before so need some help.

It's "dpkg", not "dkpg".

If this is just a typo please tell command you are trying to execute.
