If you log in as another user is it the same? Create one if you don't have one

yes its still the same... its saying i have no space left on the device which was after i installed the updates but all of the updates weren't installed saying it was a error or something but when i open up my update manager it displays a message saying E:unable to write mmap-msync (28 no space left on device). E:The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened. E:_cache ->open () failed, please report.... and all of these errors that i'm getting on my computer can those errors be bugs?

sudo apt-get clean may help the space issue.

To open a terminal try this:

1) Press Alt+F2
2) Type the following into the box:

gnome-terminal

3) Press "Run"

This should open gnome-terminal for you.

actionparsnip uses to say ;-)

Alt-F2

A "Run Application" window should appear. Clicking there on "Show list of known applications" you can choose an app from the drop-down window, Terminal being among them.

Well try Steven Danna's advice, may be it'll work this way.
If the terminal does appear then follow the actionparsnip's suggestion.

Perhaps a more clear description of the current situation will help the situation.

From what I understand, the following is the situation:

1) If you go to the Applications menu on the panel, there are no applications listed htere.
2) The NetworkManager applet is no longer being displayed. (This is the applet that allows you to connect to wireless and wired networks.)
3) You are able to launch gnome-terminal by using Alt+F2

Can you confirm that the following three points are correct? If they are not, can you give a description of what you are experiencing.

Also, can you do the following:

1) Open a terminal (using Alt+F2) as above.
2) Run the following commands:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get -f install
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get autoremove

3) Please copy and paste any errors you receive when running the above command in your next message here.

Regarding your last answer: rethink it and ask it as a new question if you don't mind.

Surely it's a new quest for me.
