Please tell us you're not still on 7.10 or 7.04. If so please upgrade to 8.04 or 9.04 as soon as possible. If you need a 9.04 cd please try the ShipIt service
https://shipit.ubuntu.com/

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

Oh, that should be working fine then. I assume you do have an internet connection too?

Please open Synaptic Package Manager and click on the menu "Settings" - "Repositories" on the first tab "Ubuntu Software" about halfway down the page it has a drop-down list "Download from:" click on this and choose "other" and then on the right-hand side should be a button to "Select best mirror". This does keep changing but sticking with one that's been chosen as a good one is a good plan :)

Hope this helps!
Good luck and regards from

Open a Terminal from the menu Applications → Accessories → Terminal and type:

sudo aptitude update
sudo apt-get upgrade

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.

Copy and paste from terminal the errors rows here.

Thank you

Please edit the /etc/apt/sources.list and remove the lines with the "cdrom" references in it.

To do it, please open a terminal from Applications → Accessories → Terminal and then type:

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

Give your user password you will not see no screen chars feedback when you type it then pleas press enter.

Modify the file contents, save and exit, then still using terminal, please try to update your system.

Hope this helps

Has this updates problem been fixed yet? I seem to have some troubles about this myself sometimes too, usually when i switch to getting my updates from a different mirror - usually the work-around for me at the moment is to go through the medibuntu page (again) and that seems to sort the problem for a while
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu

If the problem has already been solved then please click the button at the bottom of marcobra's post but otherwise, if it's still a problem, then please re-post this question to see if anyone at the front-desk can answer this now
