Ubuntu 9.04 download update bug

Asked by Skye Gilbert

Binary package hint: update-manager

I'm currently running on 8.10, trying to update to 9.04. I expected to download the necessary items and then smoothly transition to 9.04.

When running the update package either in update manager or in the terminal, the update is aborted with the message:
Failed http://cn.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/univrse libportaudio0 18.1-7.1

It cites its reason as:
Failed to fetch
http://cn.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/p/portaudio/libportaudio0_18.1-7.1_i386.deb
Could not resolve 'cn.archive.ubuntu.com'

I've rebooted the computer, no difference. Altered my Internet connection, no difference. Even worse, despite my computer claiming to revert back to 8.10, my computer's Mozilla browser is now completely blank and I cannot run it.

I am using a Lenovo S10 netbook, and it is known to have some problems with Ubuntu and its internal microphone, so maybe this is related?

Help!

Thanks for your bugreport.

It appears that your internet setup is lacking a nameserver. This explains the error and also the fact that firefox is not showing any web pages for you anymore. Please check your internet settings.

I convert this to a questions as its not a bug in update-manager itself.
