How do I upgrade from 8.10 to 9.04 using the CD?

I understand that I can upgrade by typing:

sudo update-manager -c

but this will take several hours and I already have the 9.04 CD downloaded and burned.

Is there a faster way to upgrade by using the CD while not losing my current data and settings?

Hello,

You will need the Alternate cd :
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/upgrading#Upgrading%20Using%20the%20Alternate%20CD/DVD

If you have downloaded the Live CD, it will not be useful.
