Ubuntu Update Manager

i have 143 files downloaded out of 250, and i want to know if i close the update manager... will it loose those 143 already downloaded?

No, you shouldn't lose them. While download, it puts them in a temporary folder and if you go back to update manager and resume the operation, they are still on your hard disk.

No you will not loose that already downloaded packages files...
You sometimes might wants to delete downloaded and already installed file that are in your local packages cache.
To do this you must type from a terminal... menu Applications → Accessories → Terminal and type:

sudo apt-get clean

the system will ask you for a password: give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.
