Hi Tinus,

This question is related to Ubuntu, not to Launchpad itself, so I'm moving it to its proper place.
Have you searched amongst Ubuntu answers [1] to see if someone had the same issue you're having?

Hope this helps,

Please try this:

Open a Terminal from the menu Applications → Accessories → Terminal and type:
(if the system ask you a password give your user password, you will not see nothing when you type it, then press enter)

sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get autoremove

Hi 'Ursula, Marcobra,

Txs for your help, I 've tried both, but could not find a direct answer/ it didn't work.

Searched more and found out I had to flash the bios, which occupied me for some time... .

It worked, and after that I decided to switch to Xubuntu, because it suits the (older) pc better.

Up til now it's OK.

Grtz.

Tinus.
