Normally PPA's are signed with GPG keys for authentication refer this link on how to add ppa's

https://help.launchpad.net/Packaging/PPA#Adding%20a%20PPA%20to%20your%20Ubuntu%20repositories

and secondly

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

and make this line

deb cdrom:[Ubuntu 8.10 _Intrepid Ibex_ - Release i386 (20081029.5)]/ intrepid main restricted

look like this

# deb cdrom:[Ubuntu 8.10 _Intrepid Ibex_ - Release i386 (20081029.5)]/ intrepid main restricted

save the file

and then do

sudo apt-get update

Regards
