error#461106 gnome-panel update/upgrade

Asked by roger thomas

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

as update manager crashes (i.e.gets stuck in a loop) if serious or grave bugs are discovered in 'Parsing found/fixed bugs routine',I used apt-get update and apt-get upgrade.Upgrade pharsing found ; GRAVE error#461106 in Gnome-panel and SERIOUS error#486777 in Xulrunner1-9 (merged with #492928) and GRAVE error #493797 in Python 2.5
Ubuntu 0.8.04
Obviously these must be known bugs - so why are you trying to upgrade existing packages with known bugs. This also brings to light the error in UPDATE MANAGER that causes it to loop if GRAVE and/or SERIOUS bugs are found (it neither ABORTS the upgrade -when it could report an error thro' Apport - nor does it return to the user). It merely sits in a loop with the question ' Are you sure you want to continue (y/n/?...) ' showing in the description pane.
