the check for updates option is grayed out

Asked by nosferatu

I can't check for updates because, as stated in the subject line, it was grayed out. I'm wondering if this was disabled on purpose because it is a beta still or if it is a small, yet real bug.

Check your software sources
System > Administration > Software Sources
Under the Updates tab, make sure everything is checked.

I hope you know that I am talking about the update feature in Firefox 3. Still, I thought this would solve my problem but it did not. It made some updates for Ubuntu available that were not previously. Thanks.

Firefox 3.0 in Ubuntu 8.04 is the beta 5

When ready and released, you will see the next upgrade of Firefox included into regular updates of Ubuntu.

Hope this helps
