4 Hours+, Update Manager updating rsync and still downloading.
My 7.04, 256mb RAM, 15mb HD, Celeron Desktop received icon alert that 1 Update was available and to download via Update Manager. This newbie just followed instructions and clicked OK ( I don't recall exact label of my response, could have been "apply". It's been perking along ever since. I tried clicking on the update icon after the first hour, all I got was a flashing orange Update Manager tab in my desktop's lower panel. I clicked on it, it stopped flashing and resumed its normal sand-like color and the download continues on its merry way. I'm typing this on my wife's WinXP.
2 Days ago I received a similar icon alert and two similar type updates were uneventfully downloaded by Update Manager, in under a half hour, I think. I wasn't really monitoring the time.
The only clue I can intuitively offer, is that yesterday I finally got around to installing and synching FoxMarks on our XP and Ubuntu PCs. The XP had a ton of bookmarks while the very recent Ubuntu had about 2 dozen. Synching took a while (under 1/2 hour, I think) and was successful.
I reviewed pertinent FAQs but am terminal shy/ignorant. If push comes to shove I'll try anything, given a little encouragement. I thought there used to be an icon for"forced termination" but I may be thinking of my son's FreeSpire KDE desktop. Appreciate any help you may offer.
