13.10 software updater jams due to need for interaction on install scripts

ubuntu 13:10 (64 AMD) software updater hangs while waiting for input for install scripts
- requires either space-bar to scroll through, or "q" to quit in the details part of
  software updater

- doesn't seem to happen on my laptop 32-bit installation of 13:10
