update-manager crashed with aptdaemon.errors.AptDaemonError in_convert_dbus_exception():org.debian.apt:Could not cancel transaction
Following update on 27/03/2013 around 10:00 GMT the updater hung. Why?
UPDATE
I shut down, rebooted and used 'sudo apt-get update -f' in the terminal. This ran ok. I then did 'sudo apt-get upgrade' and it ran ok.
Subsequent to this I then used the Update Manager to look for and install updates. This it did. System now running ok.
Running on Raring Ringtail AMD64 Desktop

Agreed, all working ok now. Raring is quite fluid at the moment so I guess I'm possibly partial upgrading from time to time and that can throw things ary. Had to use previous kernel last night following update-manager hang when trying to install .15 kernel. Once recovered I tried again and now all is ok. Thanks for your response, it is appreciated.
