The simplest route to upgrade would probably to backup your data then do a fresh install.

Create a CD/DVD or USB stick do a clean install then copy your data back.

I would but the DVD says it will not use the internet while installing . . WHY ? . . You see 10.10 see's the internet connection and uses it to install while running 11.04 will not use the internet connection as it is Wifi . . WHY ?

This may be because it does not know how to use the internet because you have security enabled and the DVD does not know the password etc.

You have three options either

1. Let it install without internet, let it find your Wifi so you can tell it the password. Then run check for updates and it download and install updates.

or

2. Plug in a LAN cable and it will download from the internet while installing. Once its installed you can unplug the LAN cable and let it find your Wifi: tell it the password and your done.

or

3. From the DVD select run from disk instead of install. Let it find your Wifi and tell it the password then click the install icon on the desktop.

All three methods work

I do not have anything at home but WiFi and it is UN SECURED from neighbor about 5 doors down and some times slow it is now about 5:44 AM, , , , Only if I go to the Library is it that you have to use the browser to get to the sign in page first and click the accept button . . I have tried the try button and let it sign in to the library first before installing but it shuts the library off and then says it can't connect . . When it was connected and I am going "what ?" 10.10 will continue but 11.04 does not . .

> What you should do.
Install Unetbootin
Command:> sudo apt-get install unetbootin
Get the version you want to upgrade to.
EX: 12.10
Download 12.10, if you have a USB then you'll be good > Make sure it has atleast 1Giga byte of space.
Restart > F12/ Boot Menu > USB > Install > Once you get there you'll see about 4 options " run Ubuntu 12.10 w/ (What ever) "
" Upgrade ( what ever) to Ubuntu 12.10 (This step ONLY works if you are using Ubuntu * Note <)
" Completely Remove ( What ever) And install Ubuntu 12.10
& " Or something else.. >> Resizeing partitions :) <<

Just do " Upgrade "
