11.04 unable to update so told to upgrade so did and now laptop is not doing anything because of graphics doesnt match

Asked by Layla

Im really sorry as i have no idea how ubuntu works as an ex put it on my laptop and it was running 11.04. Everytime it needed undating i did it, but today it said there was no more updates so i had to upgade. I did so and now i cant get on it! It says its running in low graphics mode and that i will need to configure myself except it will not open any of the options. It gives the option of starting it once in low graphics mode and restart yet if u chose this option it just sits on the ubuntu page with the dots flashing like on start up screen.

Hope u can help

Natty is EOL (No updates and no support). I suggest a clean install of Precise (for LTS support til April 2017) or Quantal (supported til April 2014 but has the latest bells and whistles).

What part is confusing you? Natty is no longer supported. It is a dead release....

ActionParsnip is reccomending that you download the latest version of ubuntu (known as precise pangolin, often shortened to precise), using a different computer, and burn it too a CD, you can then boot from the cd on your computer and reinstall the operating system. You can then restore your data from whatever backups you have.

Can you help with this problem?
