Asked by oby

Its been a while since i last updated the requests from my update manager. My computer has been acting really slow, so i decided to update the requests but my update manager is not updating anymore..Could you please help me? I get errors like:

Failed to fetch http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/jaunty/main/binary-i386/Packages 404 Not Found [IP: 91.189.91.29 80]

Thank you so much for helping me!

Jaunty is no longer supported in any way you can name or think of. It is EOL (End of life). I suggest you upgrade with a clean install of Precise. It's not only the newest stable release of Ubuntu, it is also LTS, giving it support til 2017

Thanks

The link does not exist any more. I don't know if the repositories still exit. If they do they will not be up to date. I strongly suggest you create an up to date CD or USB stick.

Downloads are available here

Ubuntu:
http://releases.ubuntu.com/12.04/

Xubuntu:
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/releases/12.04/release/

Lubuntu:
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/releases/12.04/release/

Kubuntu:
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/releases/12.04/release/

Try before you install, Xubuntu may be a better choice for your PC depending on its specification. While still in try mode you can backup all your data then do a full install.
