oneiric-beitou upgrade to precise?

Asked by Heinz-Peter Fohrmann

I recently bought the Asus X54C-SO249DU with pre-installed Ubuntu.
It turned out, that the installed version of Ubuntu is 11.10. so I tried an upgrade by checking the relevant box in the software update manager (I don't know the exact English term since I use a German localization).
An upgrade to precise did not show up.
On checking the package sources I learned, that my actual Ubuntu version is called "oneric-beitou"! This is an OEM distribution, it seems.
Can anybody tell me wether there will be a future upgrade to precise available - be it "precise-beitou" or whatever?
Thanks in advance for any helpful comment or answer.

You can use the Precise alternate ISO if you want to upgrade offline. You may want to use this guide:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PreciseUpgrades

I believe you can boot to the Precise install CD and the upgrade will be offered.

I was able to upgrade today online. Update Manager proposed 12.04 LTS. Everything seems to have gone right.
Thanks for remarks and help.
