I could not update my softwares

I could not update my software since after clicking on check icon of update manager following message appear inspite of working internet connection.

W:Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-clamav/ppa/ubuntu/dists/precise/main/source/Sources 404 Not Found
, W:Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-clamav/ppa/ubuntu/dists/precise/main/binary-i386/Packages 404 Not Found
, E:Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

It looks like precise(12.40 has not been added to the ppa yet
http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-clamav/ppa/ubuntu/dists/

You can wait for these to be added and deal the error messages for now. Or you can untick them from the "Other Software" tab is Software Sources. Or you can permanently remove them from you software source list.

I have the similar problem. When I changed mirror to main server I am getting this error

E:Unable to parse package file /var/lib/apt/lists/partial/archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_precise-security_main_i18n_Index (1)

I am new to Ubuntu so may need solution in details. Thanks in advance.
