Asked by Hermann Kerr

Update Manager does not ask for password when appling patches. I got quite use to this and I think it makes sence as this is a root activity.

HC!!!!! you mean I have been running under root - that is dangerous - time to reconfigure. I got quite use to using sudo and thought in 11.10 I was doing the same and was configured the same way (I even thought it had asked me for my password at least a few times but them I am an old hacker with old timers) and never thought to check. When the Update program stopped asking me for the password I just took it to be a dangerous bug.
