Update Manager - Package Failed (ubuntu 11.10)

Asked by Jason U

I'm currently running Ubuntu 11.10 and it has been working flawlessly. For the last couple of weeks when I've been trying to update the software with Update Manager, the files seem to be downloaded. When I go to install the new software updates I continually get the same error "package operation failed".

Here are the details in the report:

installArchives() failed:

I think you should open a bug. For do this, follow this step:
1. Open a terminal by hitting CTRL + ALT + T
2. Insert and run this command:
ubuntu-bug dpkg

3. Follow the guidate step.

Can you help with this problem?
