Error update-manager on Oneiric Ocelot

When trying to running it, it starts to search for updates but then this message error jumps: 'E:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/security.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_oneiric-security_main_i18n_Translation-en, E:No s'han pogut analitzar o obrir les llistes de paquets o el fitxer d'estat.'

Wich means that the packages list or status files couldn't be opened or parsed.

I was unable to get the package

I report the bug because I was urged to do so by a "no way" signal on the top of the screen of the desk

Although I couldn't change to the Main server as I couldn't even open the update manager I followed the instructions in the link. Still, it springs out an error :

Error del D-bus: Method "set" with signature"si(s)" on interface" org.Gnome GConf.Database" doesn't exist

Anyway it seems to work properly. Thank you
