broken packet must be fixed before ugrade

update manager is saying i must fix brocken packags before it can upgrade and terminal gets to the point of upgrading but then just stops meanwhile my computer is 1 third of the way through the upgrade .the terminal asked me if i wanted to upgrade because it said 50 software pakets were unsupported. I am running 11.4,also my signin stats are wroung they <email address hidden> " i would be quite happy if you just wipe computer clean and download the next OS if thats the easy way out of this.

This doesn't seem to be a bug, so I'm going to convert this to a question.

Please open a terminal by hitting CTRL + ALT + T then insert and run this command:
sudo apt-get update
uname -a
lsb_release -a

Then copy and paste here all the output.
