This was an upgrade as part of my normal generated update downloads. I made a copy of the new release on a DVD from my other Windows Vista machine. Should I install it?? I am dead in the water here !

You can do a clean install if you want. Reduces issues.

Success !! Clean new Install via newly burned DVD using the option that left all my existing files intact did in fact work. Good thing I had more than one machine though.
