I cant install updates with update manager,

Asked by sathiajith

I using using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
                - the Lucid Lynx
when I trying to install update with update manager, display this message --------
Not all up dates can be installed

Run a partial upgrade, to install as many updates as possible.

This can be caused by:
*A previous upgrade which didn't complete
*Problem with some of the installed soft ware
*Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

and I followed on screen instruction to partial upgrade then this message also displayed --:

Could not Calculate the upgrade

"A un resolvable problem occured while calculating the up grade: E:Error,pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this
may be caused by held packagesThis can be causedby:
*Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
*Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
*Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu
If none of this applies, then please report this bug against 'up date-manager' package and include the file in /var/log/dist-upgrade/in the bug report."
How can I fix the problem ?what can i do for upgrade my ubuntu 10.4 to 11.4 ? I kindly seeking your help.

Go into software centre and uncheck the install CD as a source of packages. Then rerun the command after you close software centre

Hi open a terminal by hitting CTRL + ALT + T
and enter this:

Try:

sudo apt-get -y install ppa-purge; sudo ppa-purge ppa:chromium-daily/ppa

This will remove the ppa for you
