Update-manager does not install anything
I have 2 PC with Unity-2D.
Today... i launch the Update-Manager
and i check if i have some updates to
do.
Yes...
Qtbinding for dee...
and some package for Unity-2D...
It was the same updating list for
my 2 PC.
I choose Install(it)... and for my
first PC... all the update was terminated
with success...
on my second PC... the download part of
the updating process terminated correctly
but... in the Installation part, the update
manager stop without installing any package.
I close the update manager, restart my second
PC...launch again the update manager....
and the same list of packages was appearing
with the same message...packages dowloaded
and not installed...
I click Install and the same problem
is repeated... update manager stop without
installing any package...
Is it a bug? Or a mysfunction of the dowload center...
or whatever?

I second this but actually now after another attempt gets the following message:
Requires installation of untrusted packages
The action would require the installation of packages from not authenticated sources.
Under details I get a reference to:
libqt4-dbus libqt4-declarative libqt4-designer libqt4-help libqt4-network libqt4-opengl libqt4-qt3support libqt4-script libqt4-scripttools libqt4-sql libqt4-sql-mysql libqt4-svg libqt4-test libqt4-xml libqt4-xmlpatterns libqtcore4 libqtgui4 libsoprano4 nautilus-sendto ntpdate software-center soprano-daemon xserver-
Removing the checkmarks for these does not resolve the problem - and an error message shows up asking me to check the internet connection.... right....! obviously not the problem.

You may also want to run:
sudo apt-get --purge autoremove; sudo apt-get clean
To remove the unecessary packages. May help.

First, i reboot and verify the update-manager:
The update-manager told that all the packages
have to be install... I press the check button
and after the install button... with the same
result.
Also i run the 2 sudo command
apt-get --purge autoremovel
and
apt-get clean...
it always the same!

Update-manager seems to have a hiccup which usually gets solved when new updates arrive.
Actually as long as terminal outputs are green I wouldn't bother much about update-manager.
Maybe try something else and test if it still wants to install packages.
Close update-manager while working in a terminal.
sudo dpkg-reconfigure update-manager
If update-manager still complains, open syslog, then update-manager, review what happens in syslog, maybe it's in a loop or something.
Maybe apt-xapian is broken instead of update-manager.
Also make sure there is enough disk space left.

Did you reboot?
Again, we need complete terminal output from
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get -f install
sudo dpkg --configure -a
in order to investigate complete error message, to see from which package it comes from.
It doesn't help to say update-manager did this or that, just keep it closed and work with terminal.
Bus error may occur because too many apps are open while updating, e.g. upgrading firefox while it's open is a bad idea.
If you search the web it could be related to anything, where user investigated install history, removed and reinstalled the culprit package given by terminal output.

Did you MD5 test the .iso image before you burned it to CD/DVD or wrote it to the USB flash drive? (See https:/
Did you verify that the live CD/DVD/USB was written correctly and is readable by the machine on which you're installing? To do that, boot from it, and immediately when you see the person and keyboard icons at the bottom center of the screen, press Spacebar, select your language, and select "Check disc for defects". (This goes for USB flash drives as well as CD's and DVD's.) If that doesn't check out, you'll have to burn a new disc or re-write the .iso image to the USB flash drive (and run this test on it again).
If both of those things check out, then you'll have to provide more information:
(1) What version of Ubuntu did you attempt to install? Is it the same version that you had been running? What is the full and exact name of the .iso image file that you used to create the CD?
(2) At what point during the installation does this error occur? What happens shortly before this error occurs?
(3) What is the full and exact error message you got when attempting to install from the CD?
(4) And what is the make and model of your computer? Or, if that is not applicable, what is the make and model of your motherboard?
Also, please avoid posting in all capital letters, unless you are quoting something that was itself in all capital letters. It is difficult to read, and capital letters on forums are taken to express screaming.

Sorry for the <capital letters>. It was 3 o'clock in the morning... when i sent
this message...
The solution for this problem was surprising one. As i get 2 PC with unity-2d...
one with 100go et the second 240 go... i merge two hard disk in the same
pc. The purpose of 2 pc was it a good idea to get a back up pc... if the
2 hard drive were in the same pc we can get a near full backup especially
for my own programs and data collection...
And I get a backup mouse and keyboard without paid anything...
and a lot of electronics part...
Tanks a lot and sorry for these bad capital letters...it's a internet law...
and i dont want to go to jail as sarkozy!!!
