Update problems

:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/extras.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_maverick_main_binary-amd64_Packages, E:The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.'

Any way to solve this?
i cant update apt or upgrade or download anything.. i really dont wanna format anymore

Open the Terminal and use the command below:

sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/*-vf

Then do the usual update && upgrade:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
