update manager fails to install updates

I often get the following error message when the red triangle appears for running update manager. I click on the red triangle (with the exclamation point in it), it loads, I click CHECK, it looks like its downloading stuff then I get this message:

W:Failed to fetch cdrom://Ubuntu 11.04 _Natty Narwhal_ - Release i386 (20110427.1)/dists/natty/main/binary-i386/Packages Please use apt-cdrom to make this CD-ROM recognized by APT. apt-get update cannot be used to add new CD-ROMs

, E:Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

I've put the Ubuntu install disc in the CD ROM thinking that is what it was looking for but that didn't change anything.
What does this error mean? How do I correct it?

Please open the update-manager then push to "Settings" button and please remove the references of Ubuntu cd

Then press the update-manager "verify" button it helps
