update manager terminal always closes

Asked by Christopher Barry

regardless of the checkbox setting in update manager's terminal, the terminal always closes after the updates have completed.

I like to review the terminal output before closing the terminal, and this bug prevents this.

press CTRL+ALT+T and run:

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get -y upgrade; sudo apt-get -y dist-upgrade

You can then review the output.

that does not solve the bug mentioned in the question (whch has been turned into a bug report now).
the built-in terminal has a checkbox to not close after update, but the terminal dialog ignores the setting.

I've stopped using it, and just use the cli.
