Upgrade from 10.10 to 11.04 problem

Asked by jAguAr`

I just upgraded Ubundu 10.04 to 10.10 with the intention of continuing the upgrade to 11.04 this morning. However, when I tried clicked on the 'Upgrade' button from the Gnome Update Manager, I got the following error message:

'E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.'

I also tried talking with someone on the freenode: #ubuntu irc channel this morning and a copy of our conversation is here. It shows all of the troubleshooting steps that we have already taken, and their results.

Any assistance with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

A fix for bug 772387 is now available to be tested. See Martin Pitt's comment (post #14) in bug 772387 from about 12 hours ago. If it works, you can provide feedback in bug 772387, and also mark this question as Solved.

On the other hand, if you're not experiencing bug 772387 (you may be able to tell by comparing the description and comments in that bug to your problem), or you are experiencing bug 772387 but that fix doesn't work for you, then please post a reply here in this question.

Can you help with this problem?
