Update Manager does not list 11.04 Update

Asked by Robert Nelson Strobel

I tried updating my system this morning. The update manager listed the update and I started to download it. Unfortunately, my internet was too slow at home and decided to cancel the update and try on my college campus for a higher download rate. Now that I am on campus, the Update Manager no longer lists the box at the top entitled 11.04. I have gone to the "Software Sources" tab made sure that "Normal Releases" is selected in the release upgrade section. I love my Ubuntu, and I can't live without the new upgrade ASAP. Thanks Ubuntu community!!!!

First, you should be aware that 11.04 is still in beta, and if you upgrade to it, you will likely experience problems, perhaps quite severe problems. However, if you're willing to test it out and report bugs as you find them (and provide missing information in existing bug reports when your issues have already been reported, in cases where you have additional information to contribute), then go ahead.

To upgrade to the beta, follow the instructions here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/natty/beta#Upgrade%20from%20Ubuntu%2010.10

If the instructions for a desktop system produce the same problem you had before, you can use the instructions for a server system (they work fine on desktop systems). If you get a different problem, however, then you should post a new question about it (or, only if you know it's a bug and how to report it, go ahead and do that).

@actionparsnip !!!! That solved my problem. Thank you so much!!!!

@Eliah Kagan I had tried that already but thanks for suggesting.

I am so happy with the speedy responses!!! YAY. I wish I had asked sooner instead of wasting an hour trying to figure it out myself.

Thanks again!!!!!
