Ok well you have added the getdeb ppa, flock seems to have either been installed by a user (in the admin group) or is a strange dependency of a package (which I strongly doubt).

You can uninstall it if you desire.

Thanks a lot once again , sir .

I also doubt that dependency of a package has installed this. I have installed firefox 4 by your suggested way . Now if I uninstall it from ubuntu software centre ,can it cause any damage to my system . How can I know which is dependent on this. I want to inform that I have installed mozilla thunderbrid mail, and some theme packges. I dont like flock ,I like the default browser Firefox. I want to uninstall it without harming my system. Please give me advice.........

thanks

If you run:

sudo apt-get --purge remove flock; sudo apt-get --purge autoremove

If there are no dependancies on flock it will be removed as well as the deps which are no longer needed. You will be shown in the terminal what is going to happen, just read the text and say yes or no. Removing flock will not affect any other app you have
